Hyundai

Hyundai is probably the most successful chaebol that entered car manufacturing after a government initiative on industrialization in South Korea. Original Hyundai Pony range masterminded by ex-British Leyland boss George Turnbull, using Morris Marina-type structure, simple engineering and ItalDesign bodyshells. Hyundai tended to make worthy but undistinguished cars for years, selling on cheapness, leading to automotive manufacture even in Canada for a short while. Today, Hyundai has expanded into countries such as India and China where various models are made, and with the i30 and new marque Genesis, it seems to have come good in creating world-class, competitive vehicles.
