Luxury marque for Hyundai, though originally for home market only. Called Genesis to mark the beginning of a new era for Hyundai; the original 2008 BH-series sedan was benchmarked against the BMW 5er-Reihe (E60). Cars generally exported as Hyundai Genesis to begin with; in Korea, the Hyundai name is not present on the badging. Eventually, export markets followed suit.
