If you follow the bloodline of the “ur-Hyundai”—the original Pony—you wind up at Verna at the turn of the 21st century. Not a particularly attractive car in its first incarnation, it was roomy with good value for money. A rounder Verna came next, but Hyundai eventually went back to its Accent model name, except in China. In 2017, the next Verna appeared first in China, with Russia (as the Solaris) and India following. Indian launch first for fifth-generation model in 2023.
