Autocade is an international car cyclopædia that’s geographically unbiased, carefully edited for enthusiasts and media who want a quick, accurate reference. There is a greater emphasis on models produced after 1970.

Inside Autocade

Citroën GSA

1981 Citroën GSA Special Break.jpg

Citroën GSA/Citroën GSpécial. 1979–87, 1989–91 (prod. 576,757 to 1987). 5-door saloon, 5-door estate, 3-door van. F/F, 1129, 1299 cm³ (I4 OHC). Improved GS, with hatchback (five years after Heuliez proposed its version) and plastic bumpers, bringing the look into the 1980s. Even more aerodynamic with front spoiler. Four-wheel independent suspension, five-speed gearbox. Larger engine from GS X3, smaller-engined GSA Spécial from 1981. French production to 1983, Spanish production to 1986; Indonesian production of Entreprise van to 1987. Indonesian production of hatchback GSpécial from 1989 to 1991.

Manufacturing locations: Rennes, France; Vigo, Spain; Mangualde, Portugal; Koper, Yugoslavia; Arica, Chile; Mutare, Zimbabwe; Jakarta, Indonesia

Marque: Citroën | Predecessor: Citroën GS | Successors: Citroën BX, Citroën ZX

Tianjin Xiali N7

Tianjin–FAW Xiali N7.jpg

Tianjin–FAW Xiali N7 (天津一汽 夏利 N7) (TJ7133). 2013–19 (prod. n/a). 5-door sedan. F/F, 993 cm³ (I3 DOHC), 1339 cm³ (I4 DOHC). N7 effectively took over the market segment from Tianjin’s licensed version of the Toyota Vitz (P10), but had faux off-roader touches. Positioned slightly below Tianjin Weizhi V2 hatchback and targeted first-time car buyers. Transformers-like geometric shapes marked out interior, but built to a price. ABS, airbags, and collapsible steering column standard, considered good for the price in China. Carryover engine, already proven in N5; brakes left something to be desired. One-litre from 2015.

Manufacturing location: Nankai, Tianjin, China

Marque: Tianjin | Model: Tianjin Xiali

Dodge 1800 (1973–5)

1973 Dodge 1800.jpg

Dodge 1800. 1973–5 (prod. 92,665, incl. Polara). 2-door sedan. F/R, 1799 cm³ (I4 OHV). Announced November 1972 and launched April 1973, Brazilian version of Hillman Avenger, with different rear side window and rear end. Originally with 78 hp. Nicknamed Dodginho. Not that well suited to local conditions, and car had to be improved and relaunched in 1976 as Polara, using old Dodge name with much goodwill in Brazil. Sporting 1800 SE version in 1974 with collector interest.

Manufacturing location: São Paulo, Brazil

Marque: Dodge | Successor: Dodge Polara (1976–81)

q.v. Dodge 1500
