Citroën ZX Turbodiesel.jpg

Citroën ZX/Dongfeng Citroën Fukang (東風雪鐵龍 富康/东风雪铁龙 富康) (N2). 1991–2008 (prod. 2,130,600 approx. in Europe; 2,526,363 all Citroën-made ZX and derivatives to end of 2011). 3-, 4- and 5-door saloon, 4-door LWB saloon, 5-door estate. F/F, 1124, 1360, 1580, 1587, 1761, 1998 cm³ petrol, 1360, 1527, 1769, 1905 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 1587, 1761, 1998 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Looking dull when previewed in spy photos, ZX appeared even more dated at launch, though this hid reasonably good dynamics and ride, which bettered the likes of the Opel Astra F and Ford Escort Mk V. Conventional springs for suspension, rather than hydropneumatics, and ZXs proved largely reliable. Comfort was its strongest suit but on most other counts, such as performance and servicing costs, it was not at the top of its class. Mid-term revisions 1995, estate launched the same year. European production to 1998. Chinese production began 1997—ZX was the first Citroën there, and was called Fukang, with four- and five-door models, and a very rare LWB four-door. Standard four-door called Fukang 988. Fukang gained a 16V DOHC 1·6 in 2005. Production ended 2008, but not before it spawned more upscale Élysée and C-Élysée models in China.

Marque: Citroën | Predecessor: Citroën GSA | Successors: Citroën Xsara, Citroën Élysée, Citroën C-Élysée (2008–13)
