Inside Autocade
Aston Martin Cygnet. 2011–13 (prod. n/a). 3-door saloon. F/F, 1329 cm³ (I4 DOHC). A commuter car, existing largely to help reduce the average carbon-dioxide emissions for the Aston Martin range, as required by the European Union. Offered initially to existing AML customers. Essentially a facelifted, re-trimmed and very pricey Toyota iQ, finished at Gaydon. Unlike the overpriced Frazer Tickford Metro of the 1980s, Cygnet bore the Aston Martin badge, and to purists was a questionable expression of the brand’s values.
Manufacturing location: Gaydon, Warwickshire, England
Marque: Aston Martin
Renault Sport Spider (W94). 1996–9 (prod. 1,640, incl. 90 Spider Trophy). 2-door roadster. M/R, 1998 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Lightweight sports car from Renault, developed as a halo model. DOHC engine produced 147 PS. Strong chassis, bodywork in plastic ..→
Mitsubishi Mirage (A05A/A03A/A00/LA). 2012 to date (prod. n/a). 5-door sedan. F/F, 999, 1192 cm³ (I3 DOHC). Mitsubishi’s entry for developing markets: a basic, frugal, small hatchback. Larger engine for the Thai market, smaller one for Japan. ..→
