Inside Autocade
Honda Insight (ZE2/ZE3). 2009–14 (prod. n/a). 5-door sedan. F/F, 1339, 1499 cm³ petrol–electric hybrid (I4 OHC). Reborn Insight, less innovative than ZE1 of 1999, and using some parts’ bin components to keep the cost down. Developed as a rival to Toyota Prius, especially as Honda lost out sales-wise in the US despite having made it to that market earlier with a hybrid. Its main hybrid, the Civic IMA, was considered too similar in exterior appearance to the petrol model. Exceptional economy, acceptable handling, based on initial reports; rear-seat space limited.

Bentley Continental Flying Spur. 2005–13 (prod. n/a; 50 Arabia). 4-door saloon. F/A, 5998 cm³ (W12 DOHC). Four-door version of Bentley Continental (2003–11), related to the Volkswagen Phaeton, reviving 1950s name. Standard twin-turbo engine with 412 kW (560 PS), increased to 449 kW (610 PS) for the Speed model of 2009, making it the fastest four-door production saloon with 200 mph. Arabia special edition, for Middle East customers, in 2010. Surprisingly good handling for its size, though softer than coupé, but not as refined as one might expect. Well appointed interior.

Conventionally attractive C-segment sedan, styled under Gert Hildebrand (formerly of Mini), with European sales in mind, from Chinese–Israeli JV between Chery and Israel Corp. Single body style, with 1·6, initially, flagship featuring turbocharger. First Chinese-made car to score five stars in Euro NCAP tests. Well made interior albeit with cheaper materials, comfortable ride, and quiet, befitting its more premium aspirations. Launched in China first, November 2013. Hatchback from 2014.
