Chevrolet Onix. 2012–19 (prod. n/a). 5-door sedan. F/F, 999, 1389 cm³ (I4 OHC). Neatly designed small hatchback, replacing the more expensive versions of the Celta, unveiled at the São Paulo motor show, and challenging Volkswagen Gol G5 and Hyundai i20 (PB). Gamma II platform, related to Opel Corsa C, itself a development of Corsa B, shared with Chevrolet Cobalt (2011–) and the Spin MPV, and familiar flex-fuel OHC engines already seen in Celta, Agile and Cobalt. Positioned below Agile. Customization with decals, as with Mini and Fiat 500 (2007–), and Bluetooth capability via Chevrolet’s MyLink system, complete with seven-inch screen. Downmarket Onix Joy replaced the remaining Celtas in 2015. More upmarket Onixes replaced by new generation in 2019; by the start of 2020, the remainder had gone with the exception of the entry-level Joy.
