Débuted in the US in 2015 as a 2016 model, with Korean and Chinese (at Shanghai GM, as Malibu XL) production commencing 2016. Lane assistance and pedestrian detection among its safety features. Spacious interior, decent handling and braking, though turbo 1·5 slower to accelerate. Eight-inch touchscreen in centre console. US models were a bit spartan at the base level. Refresh in 2018 saw 1·3 turbo introduced in Korean Malibus. Korean Malibus to 2022, when GM ended car production there and closed the Bupyeong plant.
