From AutocadeHonda Civic/Acura CSX (FD/FK/FN/New Civic). 2005–12 (prod. n/a). 3-, 4- and 5-door sedan, 2-door coupé. F/F, 1339, 1595, 1799 cm³ petrol, 1339 cm³ petrol–electric hybrid (I4 OHC), 1998 cm³ petrol, 2204 cm³ diesel (I4 DOHC). Eighth-generation Civic more refined and larger, with European-targeted hatchback models (FK and FN) featuring futuristic interior not to everyone’s tastes. Technically on two platforms: European model with simpler rear torsion beam suspension, seen as retrograde step from double wishbones on other markets’ ones. Honda defended this by saying the simpler suspension saved space. Five-door featured concealed door handle in C-pillar. Variants of Japanese model (FD) sold in most parts of Asia and Australasia, as well as North America; in Canada as Acura CSX from Ontario plant. Some countries sold both European and Japanese models. Hybrid in sedan shape only, but not as successful as rival Toyota Prius (NHW20). Generally regarded as a good-handling vehicle and very spacious, though dashboard backlighting problematic for some, and switchgear fidgety. Relaunched in China in 2012 as the Ciimo.
