Autocade is an international car cyclopædia that’s geographically unbiased, carefully edited for enthusiasts and media who want a quick, accurate reference. There is a greater emphasis on models produced after 1970.

Mazda Cosmo (HB). 1981–90 (prod. n/a). 2-door coupé, 4-door sedan, 4-door hardtop sedan. F/R, 1146 cm³ (Wankel 2 × 573 cm³), 1308 cm³ (Wankel 2 × 654 cm³), 1970, 1998 cm³ petrol, 1970 cm³ LPG (I4 OHC), 2209 cm³ diesel (I4 OHV). Third-generation Cosmo, looking far more modern and relevant for the 1980s than its predecessor. Extra four-door bodystyles shared with Luce, though coupé was first shown. Coupé had Cd of 0,32, among the better figures of the period. Turbo 12A rotary from 1982, first time a turbocharger had been added to a rotary engine, and briefly the fastest production car out of Japan. Digital speedometer, in keeping with its high-tech image. Four-door hardtop lost its retractable headlights in 1983. Formal sedan finished production September 1986, but hardtops continued.

Chrysler LeBaron (K-car). 1982–8 (prod. n/a). 2- and 4-door sedan, 2-door convertible, 4-door LWB sedan, 4-door LWB limousine. F/F, 2213, 2507, 2555 cm³ (I4 OHC). Upscale version of K-car, with first American factory convertible since 1976 Cadillac Eldorado débuting for 1982 as part of its range. More formal appearance, vinyl roof on sedans, different grille and more chrome compared with other Ks. Only K with a turbocharged variant of the 2·2 available, which produced more horsepower than the V8 in the earlier LeBaron. Stretched Ks from 1983, with five-passenger Executive Sedan riding on 124 in wheelbase and seven-passenger Executive Limousine on 131 in. Refreshed for 1986 model year; two-door and convertible dropped for 1987. Sedan continued through 1988.

Successor to W201, as Mercedes-Benz changed its model badging system. The former 190 models all became the C-Klasse, competing more earnestly in the BMW 3er-Reihe sector with saloons, estates, and, in some cases, coupés.
