Autocade is an international car cyclopædia that’s geographically unbiased, carefully edited for enthusiasts and media who want a quick, accurate reference. There is a greater emphasis on models produced after 1970.

Inside Autocade

Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (J150)

2013 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.jpg

Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (TRJ150/GRJ150/GRJ151). 2009–23 (prod. n/a). 5-door SUV. F/A, 2693 cm³ petrol, 2755, 2982 cm³ diesel (I4 DOHC), 2986 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 3456, 3955 cm³ (V6 DOHC), 4608 cm³ (V8 DOHC). Fussier-looking Prado, this time without a three-door model. More aerodynamic, with improved fuel efficiency. More safety equipment. Body-on-frame construction as before. Minor changes in 2010. Sold also as Lexus GX as before, but with smaller GX400 complementing GX460 (q.v. Lexus GX (J150)). Ride not great but one of the more “bulletproof” off-roaders available. Diesel somewhat underpowered for the heavy vehicle.

Manufacturing location: Tahara, Aichi, Japan

Marque: Toyota | Model: Toyota Land Cruiser | Predecessor: Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (J120) | Successors: Lexus GX (J150), Toyota Land Cruiser 250

Buick Riviera (1989–93)

1992 Buick Riviera.jpg

Buick Riviera. 1989–93 (prod. 73,762). 2-door coupé. F/F, 3791 cm³ (V6 OHV). Technically the same as before, with the same wheelbase, but an extra 11 in added to the overall length, most of it in the rear, to distinguish it from lesser GM cars. Conventional controls replaced touch-screen system for 1990. Improved V6 for 1991; minor improvements to equipment for remaining two years, though sales fell into the four digits in 1993 in an abbreviated model year. Related to Oldsmobile Toronado (1990–2), which also underwent the body lengthening.

Manufacturing location: Hamtramck, Michigan, USA

Marque: Buick | Model: Buick Riviera | Predecessor: Buick Riviera (1986–8) | Successor: Buick Riviera (1995–9)

Chevrolet Cobalt (2011–)

2012 Chevrolet Cobalt LTZ.jpg

Chevrolet Cobalt. 2011 to date (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan. F/F, 1389, 1796 cm³ (I4 OHC), 1485 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Notchback version of Chevrolet Agile, with fussy, boxy styling, and on platform that can be traced back to Opel Corsa B. Positioned above the other B-segment cars in the Chevrolet range in Brazil, including Corsa B-based Classic and Prisma. Uzbek production from 2012, with 1·5-litre engine, exported to Russia as Ravon R4. Brazilian production to 2019.

Manufacturing locations: São Caetano do Sul, São Paulo, Brazil; Asaka, Andizhan, Uzbekistan; Kazakhstan

Marque: Chevrolet | Model: Chevrolet Cobalt

q.v. Chevrolet Onix, Chevrolet Spin
