Audi 80 (B3)

Audi 80 (Typ 89/Typ 8A/B3). 1986–91 (prod. 1,438,475). 4-door saloon. F/F, F/A, 1399, 1588, 1781, 1847, 1984 cm³ petrol, 1588, 1896 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). Audi followed up its successful 100 with a smaller 80, letting the wind tunnel dictate its proportions. Criticized for having too small a boot (leading to a spacesaver spare tyre), a consequence of its shape, though it was aerodynamic (C_d at 0,29). Zinc galvanized bodyshell, which was emphasized in its marketing, along with the Procon-Ten safety system. Different platform to sister car Volkswagen Passat (B3).
