Grille-less appearance for third-generation Passat, known for reliability and handling but less so on noise and ride. Competent, though in US, failed to challenge its Japanese rivals well; in Germany, more complete than Audi 80 and considered superior to Opel Vectra A and dated Ford Sierra Mk II.
