Audi 80/Audi S4 (B4). 1992–5 (prod. 1,090,690). 4-door saloon, 5-door estate. F/F, F/A, 1595, 1984 cm³ petrol, 1896 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 2226, 2309 cm³ (I5 DOHC), 2598, 2771 cm³ (V6 DOHC). Based on Typ 89 or B3, but 8 cm longer, a lot of it in the boot to counter criticism of the space of the old model. No Audi 90 this time: all models grouped under single 80 range. V6s for the first time. Cabriolet still B4 series but considered its own model line in this generation. Estate called Avant; four-wheel-drive models wore Quattro tag. Quite solidly built, marketed on safety and quality.
