1966 Mercury Comet.jpg

Mercury Comet/Mercury Capri/Mercury Caliente/Mercury Cyclone/Mercury Villager. 1966–7 (prod. n/a). 2- and 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon, 2-door coupé, 2-door convertible. F/R, 200 in³ (I6 OHV), 289, 390, 427 in³ (V8 OHV). Upsized Comet, now an intermediate on the same platform as the Ford Fairlane (1966–7). Range consisted of 202 sedans at the base, Capri in the middle, Caliente and Cyclone at top; wagons called Voyager and Villager. More complex for 1967, as the Comet model name was dropped for all but the 202 and Voyager, and Capri, Caliente and Cyclone became the models, and the two 427 in³ engines (Cyclone and Cyclone Super) became options for the two-door hardtop.

Manufacturing location: USA

Marque: Mercury | Model: Mercury Comet | Predecessor: Mercury Comet (1964–5) | Successors: Mercury Capri (1967), Mercury Caliente, Mercury Cyclone (1967), Mercury Comet (1968–9)
