Mercury Comet. 1968–9 (prod. 30,797). 2-door coupé. F/R, 250 in³ (I6 OHV), 289, 302, 351, 427, 428 in³ (V8 OHV). Twin to Fairlane, styled to look like Mercury’s full-sized line. Rode like it, too, with soft suspension and suspect handling. Among Mercury’s intermediates, Comet was the base model, with Montego the regular line from 1968.
