Entry-level Toyota model before Aygo came along, originally designed at its European studio. Yaris was the export name for the Toyota Vitz. However, in 2013, a separate and slightly larger Yaris line began in Asia, based around the Toyota Vios. From the 2017 model year, Toyota sold a Mazda Demio-based four-door sedan as the Yaris, formerly the Scion iA, and for the 2020 model year, the hatchback joined it with this nameplate, before both were deleted soon after. Japan finally adopted the Yaris nameplate in 2020, with the launch of the P210, the fourth generation in that lineage.
