Toyota Yaris. 2016–20 (prod. n/a). 4- and 5-door sedan. F/F, 1496 cm³ (I4 DOHC). With the demise of Scion, Toyota US rebadged the Mazda Demio (DJ) four-door-based iA, calling it the Yaris iA, a moniker which it had till the end of the 2018 model year, selling alongside the Yaris-badged Vitz in three- and five-door hatchback forms. From the 2019 model year, when it was refreshed, it was plain Yaris, and the only body shape on offer, with the old hatchbacks deemed too dated and uncompetitive. Beginning in the 2020 model year, Toyota opted to source the hatchback version of the Demio as well for its American Yaris range. Usual Mazda virtues of nimble, good handling; other than the grille and badging, the cars were essentially identical. The arrangement was short-lived, with the last cars produced June 2020.
