Personal-luxury car on an intermediate GM platform, selling well for North American buyers who wanted the style. Monte Carlo was the Chevrolet counterpart to the Pontiac Grand Prix, which had shown there was a market for a longer-wheelbase two-door vehicle. Similar to Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, Buick Century and Buick Regal. Toward the end, the Monte Carlo nameplate was used on a coupé version of the Chevrolet Lumina, then the similar Chevrolet Impala.

Marque: Chevrolet | Predecessor: Chevrolet Lumina | Successors: Chevrolet Lumina, Chevrolet Camaro
