From AutocadeToyota Sprinter (E80/AE85/AE86). 1983–7 (prod. n/a). 4- and 5-door sedan, 2- and 3-door coupé, 2-door convertible. F/F, F/R, F/A, 1295, 1452, 1587 cm³ (I4 OHC), 1587 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Sporting counterpart to first front-drive Corolla, with more aggressive front end and a six-light body for sedans. Coupés remained on rear-drive, including famed AE86 Sprinter Trueno, using a revised version of the TE71 chassis. Sprinter Trueno featured pop-up headlamps, differentiating itself from Corolla Levin. Mid-term changes in 1985. Limited run of convertibles in 1987. Formed the basis of the US-made Chevrolet Nova (1986–8).
