From AutocadeChevrolet Nova (AE82). 1986–8 (prod. 426,888). 4- and 5-door sedan. F/F, 1587 cm³ (I4 OHC), 1587 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Americanized version of Toyota Sprinter (E80), which meant Corolla underpinnings. As Sprinter was not sold in the US, and the liftback was not offered as part of the North American Corolla range, the two Nova shapes were unique in that part of the world to Chevrolet. Sold nearly as well as the Toyota equivalent in the US. First time GM had built a Toyota-based car. First two years nearly identical, though 1988 saw a Twin Cam DOHC version, with engine from the FX16 Corolla. Ride softer than Toyota, at the expense of handling.
Marque: Chevrolet | Model: Chevrolet Nova | Successor: Geo Prizm (1990–2)
