2003 BMW X3.jpg

BMW X3 (E83). 2003–10 (prod. n/a). 5-door SUV. F/A, 1995 cm³ petrol, 1995 cm³ diesel (I4 DOHC), 2494, 4979, 2996 cm³ petrol, 2993 cm³ diesel (I6 DOHC). Meant to be the “little brother” of the X5, with the mechanicals of the BMW 3er-Reihe (E46). Criticized at launch, X3 wound up being one of the better mid-sized crossovers when its car-based competitors appeared—its lack of off-road ability wasn’t as bad as its rivals’. Plasticky interior remained through most of the run, though there were improvements in other respects.

Manufacturing locations: Graz, Austria; Rayong, Thailand; Kaliningrad, Russia

Marque: BMW | Model: BMW X3 | Successor: BMW X3 (F25)
