Mazda’s compact MPV, launched just before the new millennium. Originally on the dull side, but the second and third generations—usually exported as the Mazda 5—were competent handlers, and stylish to boot. Unfortunately, with the consumer shift to crossovers, Mazda called it a day on the Premacy in 2018. The original was also built at Haima in China, and formed the basis of two generations of the Haima Freema. Ford versions also existed, namely the Ford Ixion, twinned with the first generation, and the Ford I-Max, a Taiwanese version of the second. The third generation spawned a version of the Nissan Lafesta under an OEM deal.
