From AutocadeJaguar XJ-S. 1981–91 (prod. 46,895 HE, 9,979 3·6 coupé, 5,007 cabriolet, 12,711 convertible). 2-door coupé, 2-door cabriolet, 2-door convertible. F/R, 3590 cm³ (I6 DOHC), 5343 cm³ (V12 OHC). Revisions to original XJ-S included May-designed ‘Fireball’ cylinder heads in 1981; ‘H. E.’ (‘High Efficiency’) tag added to badging. More wood, power now 299 bhp. AJ6 twin-cam six from 1983, same year as cabriolet (six only till 1985; both six and V12 from 1985) introduced with roll-over bar. Cabriolets built till 1988; full convertible developed with Karmann assistance, only with V12, from 1987, with ABS.
