Ford LTD (FC). 1979–82 (prod. 3,979). 4-door sedan. F/R, 4098 cm³ (I6 OHV), 5766 cm³ (V8 OHV). Modern, angular LTD, with similar lines to Falcon on which it was based, but with six-light body style. Lighter (by 172 kg, to 1,697 kg—right down to a plastic fuel tank) than before, and with 4·1 six as base engine as V8s began falling out of favour. Far more efficient than predecessor. Alloy heads from 1980, improving weight. Limited-edition Cartier series for 1979 and 1980, with ladies’ purse and wallet among the goodies. Exported in 1981 to the UK, but with Ford Capri Mk III lights at rear to comply with laws there.
