Restyled Ford Fairmont (1978–83), with all the bugs ironed out. In another downsizing phase, Ford shifted its full-sized nameplate to what was a compact back in the 1970s, while the traditional Panther-platform LTD was renamed LTD Crown Victoria. Fuel injection for 3·8 in 1984; performance LX model the same model year with V8.
