DAF 46. 1974–6 (prod. 32,353). 2-door saloon, 3-door estate. F/R, 844 cm³ (F2 OHV). Short-lived successor to 44, though sales of the earlier model continued for some time into the 46’s run. Similar to 44, but badging on the front differed (separate DAF and 46 badges on the decorative strip), and other detail changes. Same engine, developing 25 kW, and Variomatic transmission. Engine still noisy. Differential connected to rear wheels by CV joints and driveshafts, and de Dion rear axle introduced, brought over from the 66, improving handling and grip. Single belt for Variomatic, instead of double.
