Took over from the 80 as Audi’s junior-executive nameplate. Consistently with nice interiors, and initially a modernist shape, before more muscular looks from 2007 on. Not always known for its dynamism versus its arch-rival, the BMW 3er-Reihe, but the perceived quality and good design help banish memories of its predecessors. After the B9, the internal-combustion models were succeeded by the third-generation Audi A5.
