2019 Hyundai Grandeur.jpg

Hyundai Grandeur (IG). 2019–22 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan. F/F, 2359 cm³ petrol–electric hybrid, 2497 cm³ petrol (I4 DOHC), 2999 cm³ LPG, 3342, 3470 cm³ petrol (V6 DOHC). Hyundai takes its ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design theme and applies it to its successful Grandeur under head of design Luc Donckerwolke. Cut short the previous model’s cycle although this was still classed as an IG: Hyundai said the segment was competitive in Korea, and wanted to respond to its sister car, the Kia K7 (YG), which began outselling the Grandeur; there was also internal competition from the sleek Sonata. More formal than Sonata, targeting 40- and 50-something buyers, but front end very dramatic, with diamond-shaped grille elements that light up (the daytime running lights are hidden in the grille). Rear headroom slightly compromised due to roofline. Wheelbase up 40 mm, length up 60 mm, and width up 10 mm. New dashboard, with 12·3 in digital dashboard. Plenty of active safety features befitting a big Hyundai, with lane keep assist and forward collision avoidance among them. Automatic gearshift done by button; smooth changes. Minor road noise.

Manufacturing location: Korea

Marque: Hyundai | Model: Hyundai Grandeur | Predecessor: Hyundai Grandeur (IG) | Successor: Hyundai Grandeur (GN7)
