Hindustan Ambassador
From AutocadeAffectionately called the Amby, the Ambassador took the Morris Oxford III as its base, and treated it to few tweaks over a half-century. While the original BMC engine has been complemented by more modern units from Isuzu, the Amby—to some India’s national car—remained cramped, poorly built and unrefined, selling mostly to government types. An attempt to modernize the Amby with the Avigo in 2003 did not last, with the original model continuing to sell in India in the 2010s. Production ceased in 2014.
