After an absence in the small coupé sector (fielded only by hot Golfs), Volkswagen reinvents the Scirocco using the latest Golf’s underpinnings. Styling previewed with IROC show car. Excellent to drive though interior dull and steering vague. Pricing only marginally above Golf’s in European markets. Base 1·4 engine supercharged and turbocharged; two-litre turbocharged only.
