Sporting version of Volkswagen Golf, on the same platform. A mainstay in the 1970s’ and 1980s’ range for Volkswagen, but replaced by the less successful Corrado. Volkswagen left this market for years till the Scirocco III in the late 2000s, with the same principle: a coupé version of the Golf.
