Volkswagen Polo/Volkswagen Polo Vivo (6R/VW250). 2009 to date (prod. n/a). 3- and 5-door saloon. F/F, 1197 cm³ (I4 OHC), 1198 cm³ petrol, 1199 cm³ diesel (I3 OHC), 999, 1198 cm³ petrol, 1199, 1422 cm³ diesel (I3 DOHC), 1197, 1390, 1395, 1798, 1984 cm³ petrol, 1598 cm³ petrol–LPG, 1498, 1598 cm³ diesel (I4 DOHC). Smart-looking Polo for the 2010s. Volkswagen upped the perceived quality, including interior materials, and introduced more economical engines. Three-cylinder diesel more powerful than 1·6 it replaced, yet had better fuel economy. Bluemotion diesel with claimed 87 g/km of carbon dioxide at one end of the range; GTI featured super- and turbocharging with optional seven-speed DSG at the other. Good, but not class-leading, handling, but extremely refined. European Car of the Year for 2010. Shared platform with SEAT Ibiza (6J) and Audi A1 (8X). Four-door sedan, made in Russia, covered separately. In 2018, the Polo V became the Polo Vivo in South Africa, as the sixth-generation model appeared.
