From AutocadeToyota Will Cypha. 2002–5 (prod. n/a). 5-door sedan. F/F, F/A, 1298, 1496 cm³ (I4 DOHC). The third of three model lines marketed as part of the Will (officially WiLL) venture in association with Kao, Asahi, Matsushita Electric Industrial and Kinki Nippon Tourist (Kokuyo, Ezaki Glico joined later). Name derived from cyber and phæton. Essentially a rebodied Toyota Ist (NCP60), on the contemporary Toyota Vitz (P10) platform, with the design theme of a ‘display-integrated helmet’. Envisaged as a ‘cyber capsule’ in a future network of cars; it was probably ahead of its time. Connected to the G-Book in-car information service. Pay-as-you-go leasing programme one way to get into a Cypha in Japan, using G-Book, but the service was eventually shut. Four-speed automatic mated to one of two engines; FWD with 1·3 and AWD with 1·5.
Marque: Toyota | Predecessor: Toyota Will Vi | Successor: Toyota Vitz (P90)
