SEAT Ibiza (021A). 1984–93 (prod. 1,342,001 sold). 3- and 5-door saloon. F/F, 903 cm³ (I4 OHV), 1193, 1461, 1675 cm³ petrol, 1714 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). SEAT’s first car developed after Fiat, though still sitting on a SEAT Ronda platform related to the Fiat Ritmo. Italdesign styling, Karmann productionization, oversquare System Porsche engines. Considered fairly stylish and good value for money, though some quirks with interior controls. Good handling, mild understeer, very good power delivery and torque spread, and excellent visibility. Little rough at the top end but otherwise very competent. Mid-term facelift 1988.
