From AutocadeNissan Violet (A10). 1977–81 (prod. n/a). F/R, 1397 cm³ (I4 OHV), 1595, 1770, 1952 cm³ (I4 OHC). 2-, 4- and 5-door sedan, 3-door coupé, 5-door wagon. Broad range, exported as Stanza, which differed from the Japanese home-market model of the same name, or as Datsun Violet, or as the 140J or 160J. Two-door sedan for export only; wagon was a basic van in Japan. Three-door coupé referred to as Open Back; five-door added toward the end of the run, in 1980. Mid-term changes in 1979. Also exported as Datsun 510 to the US, recalling the Nissan Bluebird (510), though Violet was in fact a great deal more bland and unadventurous despite the similar, boxy appearance. The 1·6 and 2·0-litre engines were in two generations, both with the same capacity—the newer ones were introduced in 1979.
