Nissan Maxima (J30). 1988–94 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan. F/F, 2960 cm³ (V6 OHC), 2960 cm³ (V6 DOHC). Maxima now an independent line, separate from Bluebird, and wider than 1,700 mm. Lighter than Bluebird-based predecessor. Smart, sports sedan styling; independent rear suspension, anti-skid braking system, and reasonable handling. Popular in US market, but failed to make a dent in Europe. Replaced domestically by the Cefiro.
