From AutocadeMitsubishi Lancer/Mitsubishi Signo/Soueast Lioncel (CE/CK/CM). 1995–2016 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan. F/F, F/A, 1298, 1468, 1584, 1597, 1834, 1998 cm³ petrol, 1997 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 1468, 1597, 1834 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 1829 cm³ (V6 OHC). Even more dull styling for Lancer, buoyed by the rise of the rally-bred Evolution models (IV, V and VI are part of this shape). Reasonably powerful engines, including unusual V6 in one of the MX sedans. Safe handling on the lesser models, with good fuel economy and space. Replaced by larger Lancer Cedia in Japan in 2000, though this model soldiered on in many nations (falling behind the competition in the process), making it the longest-running Lancer; in some cases, it ran alongside Cedia. Built in production in India at Hindustan till 2012; called Signo in Venezuela, where it ran till 2016 as a 1·3. Built in China at Dongnan (Soueast) as Lioncel from 2003, along with facelifted derivatives and a Mitsubishi-badged variant; this was the last of this series of Lancer to be built, continuing into the mid-2010s, all with the 1584 cm³ OHC four. Soueast V3 (q.v.) carried on this basic shape with a 1·5-litre four till 2017.
