From AutocadeMitsubishi Lancer (CC). 1991–5 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan. F/F, F/A, 1299, 1468, 1598, 1755 cm³ petrol, 1796 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 1836 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 1597 cm³ (V6 DOHC). More formal styling for Lancer. No new liftback for these years—previous generation’s five-door continued. Some countries sold Mirage coupé and three-door hatch under Lancer nameplate, while Libero wagon was also exported as Lancer. Notable for being the generation in which the Evolution was born, later developed into Evolution II (or Evo II for short). Apart from rally-conquering Evo, an uninspired Japanese sedan with good ride. Sold as Eagle Summit in Canada and formed the basis of the Proton Wira.
