Maserati Kyalami 4·9.jpg

Maserati Kyalami (Tipo AM129/AM129/49). 1977–83 (prod. 126 4·2, 74 4·9). 2-door coupé. F/R, 4136, 4931 cm³ (V8 DOHC). Unusual Maserati in that it was a twin of the De Tomaso Longchamp, a car designed to compete with the Mercedes-Benz SL (R107) of these years. Notchback style was the first for a Maserati coupé since the Mexico. The De Tomaso’s Ford V8 was replaced with the Maserati units. Last Pietro Frua-designed Maserati, named for a South African racetrack where the company had had another victory. Larger engine from 1978. Plush, well trimmed grand tourer, but never successful. Last Maserati V8 until the Shamal of 1990.

Manufacturing location: Italy

Marque: Maserati | Predecessor: Maserati Indy
