MG MGB GT Mk IV
From AutocadeMG MGB GT. 1974–80 (prod. 125,621 all GT Mks I to IV). 3-door coupé. F/R, 1798 cm³ (I4 OHV). Much-hated rubber-bumper model for 1975 model year, looking incongruous alongside newer competition such as Opel Manta B and Volkswagen Scirocco. In penny-pinching mode, BL raised the suspension of the B and added rubber bumpers to comply with US legislation. Handling made worse. Front anti-roll bar thickened in 1977, rear anti-roll bar standard. Last MG to leave Abingdon in 1980 as BL boss Michael Edwardes closed factory, though revived as MG RV8 in 1990s.
Marque: MG | Model: MG MGB | Predecessor: MG MGB GT Mk III | Successors: Triumph TR7, MG RV8
