Replacement for Liberty on a platform derived from the Alfa Romeo Giulietta (940), débuting a new Pentastar V6 unit. Nine-speed transmission. Controversial front end, not to everyone’s liking initially. Despite car base, Jeep claimed a better crawl ratio than its predecessor. Trailhawk model had locking rear differential, skid plates and a higher ride height. High-tech features abound: park assist, brake assist in cases where a forward collision is likely. Improved interior quality. Refresh in 2018 for 2019 model year saw a more conventional front end, and the addition of a powerful two-litre ‘Hurricane’ (GME T4) turbo.
