Hyundai Excel (X2). 1989–94 (prod. n/a). 3-, 4- and 5-door sedan. F/F, 1298, 1468 cm³ (I4 OHC). More of the same but slightly enlarged and with rounded-off corners, and some minor improvements to engines. Improvements to build quality and more refined than X1. Soft, underdamped suspension, and poor handling and traction—Excel still sold on price. Presto range now absorbed into Excel’s, reflecting export markets. Resemblance to larger Hyundai Sonata (Y2). Mid-term facelift in 1991. Replaced by Accent.
