Hyundai Avante XD (XD/DM4/DM5/DN4/DN5). 2000–14 (prod. n/a). 4- and 5-door sedan. F/F, 1493 cm³ diesel, 1495, 1599, 1795, 1975 cm³ petrol (I4 DOHC), 1991 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). Second generation of cars to wear the Avante badge, but exported to some markets as the third-generation Elantra. Had Hyundai’s then-design language, with straighter edges. Four-door first, five-door joining under seven months later. Well equipped but still sold on price, though quality had greatly improved since the 1990s. Interiors not the most inviting or well assembled. Refined and quiet inside, though dull to drive. Mid-term facelift 2003, with ABS standard on all trims except the base GL. Small diesel from 2005. Produced by Beijing Hyundai from 2003, facelifted 2007. Related to Hyundai Tucson (JM) crossover.
