Holden Brougham (HK). 1968–9 (prod. 199,039 all HK). 4-door sedan. F/R, 307 in³ (V8 OHV). Holden was caught off-guard in the full-size luxury sector, too, with the HK: not only did lesser models have to be upsized to match the Falcon, it did not have a rival to the Fairlane. Stuck with the 111 in wheelbase, Holden stretched the boot of the Premier substantially to create a rival—though it always looked ungainly. GM piled on the goodies, and offered a better finish. Chevrolet 307 V8 as standard, along with Powerglide automatic transmission. Never as successful as the Fairlane.
