Holden 48-215. 1948–53 (prod. 120,402). 4-door sedan, 2-door utility. F/R, 132½ in³ (I6 OHV). The car that kicked it off as ‘Australia’s own’, as first mass-produced six-seater car in the country. Adapted from a US GM design, with 48 denoting the year and 215 an internal code for a standard sedan. American-influenced styling. Sixty hp from OHV six. Unitary construction. Rugged, basic, with no indicators and a single taillight. Small improvements throughout lifetime, and sold very well in Australia. Retrospectively and unofficially called FX.

Manufacturing location: Australia

Marque: Holden | Successor: Holden (FJ)
