Ford Galaxie 500. 1969–72 (prod. 1,364,685). 4-door sedan, 2- and 4-door hardtop sedan, 2-door convertible, 2-door coupé. F/R, 240 in³ (I6 OHV), 302, 351, 390, 400, 429 in³ (V8 OHV). Ford’s mid-range full-size car goes on to a new platform with a 121 in wheelbase. Big, quiet, gas-guzzling, and with soft suspension for boulevard cruising. Convertible for 1969 only in the Galaxie range. Refresh for 1971. Wagons still called Country Sedan. Last Galaxie assembled in Australia, as Galaxie LTD, converted locally to right-hand drive; its place was taken up by the locally developed LTD in 1973.
