Ford Falcon/Ford Futura (EA169). 2005–10 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon, 2-door utility. F/R, 3984 cm³ petrol, 3984 cm³ LPG (I6 DOHC), 5408 cm³ (V8 DOHC). Last hurrah for regular EA169 platform, with facelift keeping the car competitive with the arrival of Holden’s VE Commodore. Design meant to bridge BA and E240 ‘Orion’ series (FG moniker not coined at this time). Futura, as before, considered part of Falcon range in marketing, though no Falcon badge appeared. Six-speed ZF automobile gearbox optional on premium models. Falcon still competent, especially the XR6 Turbo, though sales dwindled because of the dated shape and a general decline for big cars due to rising fuel costs. Sedan and ute deleted as FG came on stream in 2008, but wagon continued as budget-priced load-lugger until 2010.
