Ford Escape

Small SUV, originally based on a Mazda platform and twinned with the Mazda Tribute. Ford divided the Escape into two editions in the mid-2000s: a rebodied model for North America that was simpler under the skin, and an evolution of the earlier model for the rest of the world, produced in Taiwan. The Mercury Mariner was also a variant of the Escape. The second generation went on the Ford Kuga platform, and cut its Mazda ties: it was also marketed as a new Kuga.
